Wǔ(Hǎo) Tàijíquán [武(郝)氏太極拳]
A 200 year old martial art system founded by 武禹襄 (Wǔ Yǔxiāng, 1812 – 1880), student of 楊露禪 (Yáng Lùchán, 1799 - 1872), the founder of Yáng Tàijíquán. The final refinement Wǔ Yǔxiāng's style was achieved by 郝為真 (Hǎo Wéizhēn, 1849 – 1920), the 3rd Generation Gatekeeper, which is why the system carries both names. The structural mechanics and principles of the style have remained unaltered ever since.

Six generation lineage, written by Ang Lip Lin, 6th Generation Gatekeeper
Detailed Lineage
1st Generation: 武禹襄 (Wǔ Yǔxiāng) | 1812 – 1880
  • Frame Evolution: 改進架 (Gǎijìn Jià — Improved / Refined Frame)
  • Historical Note: Hand-written on the far left of his name in the manuscript, this represents the initial modification of the traditional Chen Small Frame structures into a specialized, streamlined vehicle for yielding and reflection.
2nd Generation: 李經綸 (Lǐ Jīnglún / Li Yiyu) | 1832 – 1892
  • Frame Evolution: 小架改進 (Xiǎojià Gǎijìn — Small Frame Refinement)
  • Historical Note: Noted directly beneath the first generation in the manuscript, marking the precise historical pivot where the form was condensed deeper into the tight, internal "Small Frame" matrix.
3rd Generation: 郝為真 (Hǎo Wéizhēn) | 1849 – 1920
  • Frame Evolution: 小架加圈 (Xiǎojià Jiā Quān — Small Frame with Micro-Circles)
  • Historical Note: Written directly to the left of Hǎo Wéizhēn’s name. This defines the final technical apex of the system, where physical movements became so compact they were driven by internal, microscopic spiral dynamics (Jiā Quān).
4th Generation: 郝月如 (Hǎo Yuèrú) | 1877 – 1945
  • Transmission Status: Unbroken Continuity — Pristine Transmission Apex
  • Historical Note: The handwritten tree shows the direct vertical lineage line splitting at Hǎo Wéizhēn to pass down to his son, Hǎo Yuèrú, while branching outward to Sūn Lùtáng (孫祿堂, 1860–1933), the founder of the Sūn style.
5th Generation: 汪以文 (Wāng Yǐwén) | 1895 – 1992
  • Transmission Status: Unbroken Continuity — Insular Closed Transmission
  • Historical Note: Ang-Sifu's handwriting clearly records Wāng Yǐwén’s dates as 1921–1992, verifying the timeline of his closed-door instruction in Fuzhou during the mid-20th century.
6th Generation: 洪麗萍 (Ang Lip Lin / Hóng Lìpíng) | 1944 – 2022
  • Transmission Status: Unbroken Continuity — Pasadena / CalTech Era
  • Historical Note: Ang-Sifu's handwritten script tracks his own birth year precisely as 1944, acting as the sole physical bridge carrying the pre-Republic Fuzhou transmission directly into Southern California in 1988.
7th Generation: 郝守本 (Hǎo Shǒuběn / Neil D. Pignatano) | 1955 – Present
  • Transmission Status: Current Living Repository / Designated North American Gatekeeper
